Student Assistance Team (SAT)

The Student Assistance Team (SAT) is a collaborative and supportive school-based team dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Each school in the Bogalusa City School District is committed to identifying and addressing the unique challenges that may impact a student's learning experience, providing targeted interventions and support to help them thrive.

SAT

What is the Student Assistance Team?

The SAT is a multidisciplinary team composed of educators, counselors, administrators, and other support staff who work together to support students facing academic or behavioral challenges. We are here to provide a structured approach to identifying student needs, developing intervention strategies, and monitoring progress.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote student success by:

  • Identifying Barriers: Recognizing and addressing factors that may hinder a student's academic performance or well-being.

  • Providing Interventions: Implementing evidence-based strategies and interventions tailored to each student's specific needs.

  • Collaborating with Families: Engaging with families to create a supportive network and ensure continuity of care and intervention.

  • Monitoring Progress: Regularly assessing the effectiveness of interventions and making necessary adjustments to support continuous improvement.

How Does the SAT Process Work?

  1. Referral: A student can be referred to the SAT by teachers, parents, or other school staff who notice academic or behavioral concerns.

  2. Assessment: The team gathers information about the student's strengths, challenges, and any underlying factors contributing to their difficulties.

  3. Intervention Planning: Based on the assessment, the team develops a personalized intervention plan that may include academic support, counseling, behavioral strategies, or other resources.

  4. Implementation: The interventions are put into action, with ongoing collaboration between the SAT, teachers, and parents.

  5. Monitoring and Review: The team regularly reviews the student's progress, adjusting the plan as needed to ensure it continues to meet the student's needs.

Who Can Benefit from SAT Services?

The SAT is designed to support students who may be struggling with:

  • Academic challenges

  • Behavioral issues

  • Social or emotional difficulties
